Welcome to the Nebagamon Lake Association!
In 1985 a group of lake shore property owners formed the Lake Nebagamon Shore Property Owner's Association to work towards protecting the lake, as well as to enhance recreational opportunities, and to get to know their neighbors.
Since that time, the association has grown to over 200 property members. In order to be eligible to apply for grants and to involve more users of the lake, in 2006 we opened our membership to people living within one mile of the lake and changed our name to the Nebagamon Lake Association.
--For the last four years, your lake association has sponsored a boat monitoring program to educate boaters about aquatic invasive species and to attempt to stop their introduction into Lake Nebagamon of these critters and fast growing plants that have quickly overtaken other lakes in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
The cost of student employees was subsidized by a grant from the state of Wisconsin last year totaling $2,460.00, and $1,500.00 from the Village. Your association provided volunteers to accompany the paid monitors and provided for all other expenses and supervision.
The state has informed us the grant is no longer available. Our question as an association is whether to stop the program or ask for assistance. We believe the goal of a clean Lake Nebagamon is too important to allow to fail. At the member meeting last summer the concept of requesting funds from members was advanced from the floor and soundly endorsed. A hat was passed raising $200.00 which will be applied to this year’s shortage. The Village has dedicated $1500 for this year, and we hope to match that amount.
We ask you now to help your association keep your lake clean. Send what you can to the address listed below. We will keep you advised about this important project in our newsletter.
Thanks in advance.--
